Ethelinda Wooten, age 52, was struck while walking and killed at Nolensville Pike and Edmondson Pike. This occurred at 8:45pm on August 15, 2019. It is reported that Ms. Wooten was homeless. Cosme Pena, age 23, was charged on August 19, 2019, with failure to yield the right of way resulting in death. Video surveillance showed that Wooten had just begun to cross Nolensville Pike, in a crosswalk, when Pena turned right onto Nolensville Pike and struck her. Pena left the scene but returned after hearing reports that someone had been struck at the intersection. He told officers he thought he had hit the curb.

Information received via email:

Note a previously painted crosswalk has not been restored across Nolensville Pike ... been a couple of months since Nolensville Pike had been resurfaced, lanes painted, etc.

Note also at that intersection the pedestrian signals across Edmondson Pike or Wallace Road are not operational ... been well over a year since they were installed.
