From a metro press release, Hassan Jackson, 39, has been charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication, driving on a revoked license, and driving without insurance, in connection with August 2, 2017 fatal collision in the 1500 block of 22nd Avenue North that claimed the life of pedestrian Gerald Dunn, 58.  Dunn, of 23rd Avenue North, was attempting to get into the driver’s side door of a 2002 Chrysler van at 11:40 p.m. when he was struck by a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Jackson.  Dunn died at the scene.  Jackson smelled of alcohol, was unsteady on his feet and had watery eyes.  He refused to perform field sobriety tasks and refused to submit to any drug or alcohol testing.  A sample of his blood will be analyzed for alcohol and drug content.  Jackson, of Jackson, Tennessee, was held in lieu of $55,000 bond.

How he Was Lost

Gerald Dunn, of 23rd Avenue North, was attempting to get into the driver’s side door of a 2002 Chrysler van at 11:40 p.m. when he was struck by a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Jackson.  Dunn died at the scene.
