Michelle Waller, 53, of Charles E. Davis Boulevard, was killed after being struck by a vehicle while crossing the road.  This occurred on July 2, 2019 at 1 am.  Keith L. Floyd, who initially left the scene, returned hours later and admitted to hitting her.  According to police Capt. Daniel Newbern, officers responded about 1 a.m. to the intersection of Lafayette and Claiborne streets and found a woman lying in the intersection.  She appeared to have been either in or very near the crosswalk prior to the collision, police said. She was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she was pronounced dead, Newbern said. Floyd, of University Court, does not have a valid driver’s license or insurance, police said.  He has been charged with leaving the scene of a fatal crash, driving on a revoked license and driving without insurance.
